Capital Rowing Club is currently preparing to kickoff the new season in March and 2006 promises to be an exciting year for Capital! From an expanding boathouse and our annual Capital Sprints Regatta to our widely popular "Learn To Row" novice classes we have a busy year ahead.
Capital Rowing Club is committed to bringing opportunities and excellence in rowing to the community of the Anacostia River and the Washington DC area.
Saturday, July 29th, 2006 Capital Rowing Club will host the annual Capital Sprints regatta on the beautiful Anacostia River.

Capital competes in local, regional, national and international regattas, including Masters Nationals, Independence Day, FISA World Masters and Head of the Charles.
For the 5th year in a row, Capital Rowing Club is hosting a Learn to Row Day (as part of the National Learn to Row held concurrently throughout the US).
Capital has been able to introduce the sport of rowing to more than a thousand community members of all ages and backgrounds through the contributions and support of our friends.
Technique will be taught on the ergometer, or rowing machine followed by a spin on the water in Capitals special flat-bottomed rowing barges designed for the novice rower.
The Anacostia Boathouse (home to Capital Rowing Club and many other High School, Collegiate, and Community Rowing Organizations) is facing the threat of demolition due to the expansion project for the 11th Street Bridges.
Capital offers a full range of rowing programs ranging from novice to nationally competitive.

The women's race was a duel between the holder Guin Batten and her sister, the world champion in double sculls.
In third place was the early leader Giovanni Calabrese of Italy, and in fourth the lightweight world champion Stefano Basalini who steered the best course throughout.

Iztok Cop of Slovenia won the Thames World Sculling Challenge by two feet over
the American Jamie Koven in a courageous race from Mortlake to Putney.
The Dutch sculler Pieta van Dishoeck hung on to third place and the American lightweight and world double sculls champion Sarah Garner was fifth after leading off the start.
