Yuen Kay Shan Wing Chun Kuen by Rene Ritchie
Return to: Planet Wing Chun.
Later he passed his Kung Fu on to Chan Wah Shan, who took me and my elder Kung Fu brothers, such as Ng Siu Lo, Ng Chung So, Chan Yu Min and Lui Yu Jai, as his students many decades ago.
He learnt techniques from Grandmaster Chan and practiced with his fellow-students such as Ng Chung So and Lui Yu Chai.
It was there she met Yim Yee and his daughter Wing Chun from whom she often bought bean curd on her way home from the market.
Planet Wing Chun -- Historical Information
Wing Chun is the name of a system of martial arts developed in southern China approximately 300 years ago.
He further said that when he
was small, he paid attention to the external-form of movements, not knowing
why certain movements should be applied in such ways, while other movements in
other ways.
The Origin of WING CHUN by Grandmaster Yip Man
The founder of the Wing Chun Kung Fu System, Miss Yim Wing Chun was a native of Canton [Kwangtung Province] in China.
He tried to force Wing Chun to marry him, and his continuous threats became a source of worry to her and her father.
Ng Mui later traveled around the country, but before she left she told Wing Chun to strictly honor the Kung Fu traditions, to develop her Kung Fu after her marriage, and to help the people working to overthrow the Manchu government and restore the Ming Dynasty.
It can thus be said that the Wing Chun System was passed on to us in a direct line of succession from its origin.
Together they shared and improved their techniques, and thus the Six-and-a-half-point Long Pole was incorporated into Wing Chun Kung Fu.
So Yip Man studied under
the guidance of Ng Chung So, with the company of fellow-students such as
Yuen Kay Shan and Yiu Choi.
Story of My Father - Yip Man the Great Grandmaster of the Wing Chun Style
by Master Yip Chun
The Last Student
From then on, my father became Grandmaster Chan Wah Shun's youngest disciple.
In 1949, Yip Man, who was considered to be the grandmaster of modern Wing Chun, brought the style out of China into Hong Kong and eventually to the rest of the world.
Planet Wing Chun -- Historical Information Historical Information about Wing Chun Kuen
I am looking for historical information from all branches of Wing Chun,
especially those outside the Yip Man family.
At fifteen, with her hair bound up in the custom of those days to show she was of an age to marry, Wing Chun's beauty attracted the attention of a local bully.
At his last minutes, Chan said to
his disciple Ng Chung So,"Yip Man is a clever boy, and is
more gifted than others.
If any of my students is to promote and spread our
Wing Chun techniques with success, Yip Man is the one.
Later, the style became known as Wing Chun, after Ng Mui's first student, a woman named Yim Wing Chun.
When he grew older, he knew that the importance of mastering Wing
Chun techniques rested on the merging of theory and practical application.

Preserving the History and Methods of Wing Chun Kung Fu
Who would have thought you could learn Yuen Kay San Wing Chun Kung Fu in the mountains of West Virginia? People I’ve taken as students are always surprised to find out they can learn a martial art other than the local TKD offering.

At the beginning of Qing Dynasty, the opera activities in Foshan were very popular.
However, this exposure has been fragmentary, including only bits and pieces of the Cho family Wing Chun Kuen.
This article is intended to provide the reader with a brief, although more in-depth view of Cho family Wing Chun proper, to help clarify the Cho family Wing Chun Kuen history and system.

As it relates to a daily class session, I’ll have to backtrack for a bit
to explain my normal progression for starting students in Wing Chun, and my
deviation from this method for a particular student.

two).

I was a student of another Wing Chun version for 13 years and was a Sifu when I became a student of Grandmaster William Cheung in 1983.
This has caused a controversy between the other Wing Chun Sifus who dispute the fact that William Cheung did learn a different version of Wing Chun from Yip Man.
There are many different styles of Wing Chun but the Yip Man school has produced the most famous fighters, Wong Sheung Leung, William Cheung, and Bruce Lee, etc.

is written for students of the Wing Chun system and potential students in order to clarify the many misconceptions regarding training methods, theories, and most of all, fighting strategies.
Even a well instructed Wing Chun practitioner might prove to be ineffective if he/she does not train diligently.
After four years of study at the kwoon (school) William Cheung moved into Yip Man's home and learned a more practical version of Wing Chun for almost four more years under a strict promise not to teach anyone even his own brother until Yip Man's death.
